Bayswater Locksmiths is a mobile locksmith covering Westbourne Park and Royal Oak, on the border between W2 and W9. The area is largely Victorian terraces, many long since converted into flats. There’s also a stretch of newer development near the canal.
As a result, that mix of old and new building stock means we move between two kinds of job. One is a period mortice lock in a converted terrace. The other is a standard cylinder in a modern conversion, often on the same street.
Royal Oak and the W2/W9 border
Westbourne Park and Royal Oak sit right on the line between the W2 and W9 postcodes. They’re close to the Grand Union Canal and the Great Western Road corridor. It’s a mixed stretch.
Some buildings are purpose-built blocks with straightforward cylinder locks. In contrast, others are converted Victorian houses, where the original door and lock have been adapted more than once over the years.
Victorian terraces and flat conversions
Many of the terraced houses in this area were split into two or three flats at some point. This usually means a shared front door with individual flat doors behind it. The shared door is common property and needs authorisation from the freeholder or managing agent before we work on it. Your own flat door is a simpler matter, once you’ve confirmed you live there.

Sash windows are also common in these conversions. A worn or broken window lock is a frequent smaller job alongside a lock change.
Maida Vale and Little Venice, W9
