Market days and getting to you
Portobello Road’s famous market runs mainly on Fridays and Saturdays. On those days, the road itself is closed to traffic and packed with stalls, shoppers and tourists. On those days, we approach on foot from the nearest place we can park.
We don’t try to drive down the road itself. That can add a little time to reaching you, so it’s worth allowing for if you’re calling on a Saturday. Weekday and evening callouts aren’t affected.
Period shops with flats above
Much of Portobello Road and the surrounding streets is period buildings. Many have a shop, stall or storage unit at street level, and residential flats above. In particular, these are usually reached through a separate side or rear entrance.
We service both halves — the shop’s own security and the flat’s lock. We also coordinate with a landlord or managing agent when the shop and the flat above are let separately.
Notting Hill
The wider Notting Hill area runs from Portobello Road towards Portobello Green and up to Notting Hill Gate. It’s a mix of grand stucco terraces converted into flats and purpose-built mansion blocks. Westbourne Grove’s boutique shops and restaurants sit south of Portobello Road. The security needs here lean commercial: shopfront cylinders and staff key control. Where a break-in has happened, we handle the burglary repair that secures the door properly, rather than as a stopgap.
Ladbroke Grove
North and west of Portobello Road, Ladbroke Grove is largely Victorian terraces, many converted into flats. Similarly, that’s the same communal-door pattern found elsewhere in this part of west London. There’s a shared entrance needing the managing agent’s sign-off, and individual flat doors that are a simpler job.
